Ombligon El Carmen


A new varietal making waves in the coffee industry. 

A young producer from Huila, Jhon Esmith Orando’s farm is located in the municipality of Palestina, 1 hour away from the town of Pitalito.

Since 2017 Jhon has been working alongside the El Carmen Association which supports farmers overcome key agricultural challenges. Since partnering with the Association, Jhon has developed his quality infrastructure which has resulted in a 2.5x income for his household - this has been achieved with the support of more roasters paying a fairer, more sustainable price for his coffee.

The Ombligon varietal is making waves in the coffee industry. In the 2023 World Barista Championships, Australia’s Jack Simpson used the Ombligon varietal for his espresso, milk and signature routines, which earned him third place.
